Captain Marvel: Rogue One's Ben Mendelsohn Praises Brie Larson

We're still a year away from the cinematic debut of Captain Marvel and fans cannot wait to see it. Not only will it have the first sole female protagonist in a Marvel movie but it will also be home to the Kree-Skrull War, an acclaimed Avengers story from the comics.

As fans wait for the first teaser or official image, Rogue One villain Ben Mendelsohn, who might also be the villain in Captain Marvel, has assured fans that Brie Larson does Carol Danvers justice.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Mendelsohn only had nice things to say about co-star Brie Larson. He claims that Larson is perfect for the role, pointing out how she is a strong but sensitive person, making her perfect for Earth's Mightiest Hero.

"Brie is absolutely perfect for that role. Why? Because she's a strong, yet sensitive, contemporary female. She is a champion, she's a fantastic actress and she's a great human. So you can't ask for better for Captain Marvel."

No one was disappointed when Larson was appointed as the lead, especially after her performance in Room but some wanted other actresses for the part. Emily Blunt was a popular choice for the role but as the actress revealed, she was never called for an audition. Since Mendelsohn actually got to see Larson perform, his words mean a lot, though some will say that he's just fulfilling contractual obligations.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
