Bucky To Appear in the Black Panther Movie?

When Captain America: Civil War ended, we saw Bucky, who wants to rid himself of HYDRA's brainwashing, getting into deep freeze with a hyperbaric-looking chamber located at King T'Challa's high-tech laboratory in Wakanda. We then see Steve Rogers bidding a temporary goodbye to his best friend. It leaves us the question of when we'll ever see Sgt. Barnes' return.

Well, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has apparently thought of that question as well. While speaking to Empire, he answers that question saying that Bucky will likely return in the Black Panther solo film. He added how his future will naturally involve Wakanda, since there's a possibility that he will be released from that deep freeze state.

However, Feige didn't mention any details of that degree.

He simply said in the interview:

It... remains to be seen. He's certainly in stasis there. Where and when he comes out? I'm not sure.

It's pretty obvious that Bucky will be released from his frozen state at some point in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Sebastian Stan signed on to nine Marvel films, and having appeared in only three films – Captain America, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War – the 33-year-old actor's character still has plenty of opportunity to be explored in the MCU. And because the next potential films showing his return won't be released until 2018, the Black Panther solo film is the likely movie to set that plot up.

The Black Panther solo film will hit theaters on July 6, 2018. Meanwhile, you can catch Bucky in Captain America: Civil War, currently in theaters.
