BTS, unsurprisingly, beat other K-pop boy groups and secured first place on the GAON chart.

BTS, the boy group from Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE), broke several records and made milestones since its debut in 2013. From being one of the "newbies" in the industry, the group began to rack up different accolades with the help of its seven members — RM, Jin, Jungkook, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jimin.

As they unceasingly work hard to be on the international music scene, BTS wowed their home country's citizens again by topping its national chart, GAON.

Gaon Album Chart ranks the best-selling mini and full-length albums in South Korea. It is responsible for tracking artists' sales on several music providers, including Cyworld, Soribada, Naver Music, Melon, Olleh Music, and Daum Music.

It also established a collaboration with several album distributors like Kakao M, Warner Music Korea, Universal Music Korea, and Sony Music Korea, to name a few.

Due to its vast connections, GAON serves as the South Korean equivalent of the US Billboard and Japan's Oricon.

Although the year is yet to end, BTS has left a remarkable impression already and beat other K-pop boy groups.

On its website, GAON released its Gaon Chart Physical Albums Rankings from January to September. The result saw BTS conquered the top spot with 6.2 million copies sold during the first three quarters of the year.

As of the writing, all the groups on the list have already made their comebacks this year. NCT Dream, TXT, and ATEEZ have dropped two albums each so far.

GAON released the result ahead of BTS' In The SOOP comeback.

Before the most recent achievement, BTS had already swept the chart during the 2021 Gaon Chart Music Awards.

In January, the HYBE supergroup brought home six awards — three trophies in the Artist of the Year - Digital Music category and two in the Artist of the Year - Physical Album category.

Based on the chart's statistics, Map of the Soul: 7's main track On, Dynamite, Life Goes On, and BE scored the best songs for February, August, and November 2020, respectively.

BTS, in addition, scored the Retail Album of the Year award.
