In 2018, Pitt proved that as a veteran, he is still capable of surprising fans when he made a quick cameo in Marvel's Deadpool 2. He played the role of Vanisher. His cameo made a lot of headlines. There were even reports that suggested how Marvel studio executives have been possibly eyeing Pitt to take on a villain role in the MCU. Fans were enthusiastic and quickly jumped on the possibility. Some fans even created fan arts and discussed the idea of Pitt playing a larger part in the MCU. However, if the basis will be his July 2019 interview, it seems like the actor has no plans on taking a larger role in the MCU.

In an interview with MTV News in July 2019, Pitt was asked about his Deadpool 2 cameo. The actor was asked whether he could be coaxed to join a larger role in any future endeavors with Marvel. The reporter asked Pitt, "Is that it for you?" Pitt responded with a slow nod and added that he had already taken it as far as he can take it. His answer alludes to him having no desire to reprise his role as the Vanisher or return to any other Marvel role.

Pitt said that it was Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, was the one who came up with the idea of his cameo. This answer suggested that he may have taken part in the cameo purely out of his friendship with Reynolds. However, things may still change and Pitt might change his mind about joining the MCU in the future.

Deadpool 3 is expected to come out in 2022.
