Here's What Happened Before Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 280

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 279, titled The Obstacle: Seven, Batta goes to Boruto about her concerning suspicion of Kiseru.

When Boruto and Batta join the other survivors, the next experiment is already in place as they all hold red envelopes.

Then, Ouga arrives and teleports them somewhere else.

Ouga reveals that their red envelopes contain the numbers 1 to 8 and within two hours, they have to get 7 points from each other in order to pass.

Kiseru realizes that Batta may have taken his communication device when they had an earlier altercation.

Meanwhile, Boruto, Yatsume, Shamo, and Namua, who is a criminal-turned-monk, open their envelopes to see how their numbers would add up.

Following that, they see Batta and Fugou, the businessman, murdered.

Rokuro then comes in with the tags of the former players who fell victim after a fight.

With Rokuro looking for a fight, Namua takes a hit to save Boruto and gives way for Boruto to attack Rokuro and take him down.

As he was losing, Rokuro concedes and reveals that Batta and Fugou were already dead when he arrived and that he only took their numbers. This means that there is only one suspect left -- Kiseru.

Boruto gets the others out through the exit and patiently waits for Kiseru as he holds his 7 tags.

Meanwhile, Mitsuki, Kawaki, and Sarada continue their investigation.

Sometime later, Sarada and Kawaki found Mitsuki tied to a tree. He revealed that a rogue shinobi did it to him.
