After a stage event back in April, Bocchi the Rock! held another event, this time, a live Kessoku Band concert that debuted the anime’s brand-new songs.

The songs are part of the upcoming Bocchi the Rock! CD release which will introduce two brand-new tracks that were made to celebrate the series.

Interestingly, new songs have been made despite Season 2 not being announced yet.

Along with the new tracks, Bocchi the Rock! also revealed that a compilation movie will be released next year.

The live concert happened in Zepp Haneda yesterday, and it featured performances from the show’s voice cast, including Yoshino Aoyama (Bocchi), Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika), Saku Mizuno (Ryo), and Ikumi Hasegawa (Kita).

These four VAs did not take on all the instrument-playing duties as professional musicians played the anime’s popular songs. Though Hasegawa was the singer as she also sang the Kessoku Band songs in the anime.

Aside from treating fans to a performance of the Kessoku Band’s hit songs, the concert also revealed that a compilation anime film will be released next year.

This compilation film is essentially a movie version of the Bocchi the Rock! TV anime and it will be released in Japan in Spring 2024.

Given that it’s a film cut, it is expected to release in Japanese cinemas.

Because it will be a year before the compilation film is released, a Season 2 announcement will probably not happen anytime soon.

The first of the new songs is titled Hikari no Naka he (Into the Light), and it was written and composed by Genki Fujimori of the Japanese rock band SAKANAMON.

This is not new for Bocchi as several of the anime’s songs have also been composed by popular Japanese artists.

For instance, the first ending song, Distortion!!, was written and composed by Maguro Taniguchi of KANA-BOON.

You can listen to Hikari no Naka he here:

This is just the first of two new songs though as the other is titled Blue Spring and West Sky.

The two new songs are now streaming on select platforms, including Spotify, with the EP release featuring brand-new cover art.

A physical version of this new EP will be released in Japan this June. For now, there’s no word on whether this CD will be released outside Japan.
