Did you know Bob Marley had a house in Delaware? The Reggae King used to call Delaware his home at one point, but where was his house located? What happened to it after he died? Let's find out.

Bob Marley Had a House in Wilmington, Delaware

The legendary Reggae artist Bob Marley may have been born in Jamaica, but sometime in the early 1960s, his mother, Cedella, moved to Wilmington, Delaware after getting married to Edward Booker in 1963.

Bob Marley's mother resided at Tatnall St. in Wilmington and was a proprietor of the Roots music store on Market St. Meanwhile, Bob would then move right next to her mom's house.

It was said that because Bob and The Wailers were struggling with money as up-and-coming musicians, so they decided to go to America and save money for their business.

At the time, Bob lived with his wife Rita and raised funds to start his own record label in Jamaica by working under the alias "Donald Marley".

Bob was working as a forklift operator at the Chrysler-Newark Assembly Plant and a lab assistant at DuPont.

Additionally, according to Stephen Davis' Bob Marley biography, the singer also held shifts as a parking attendant, dishwasher, and night-shift warehouse employee in 1966 — all of which were written into his song, Night Shift.

However, after Cedella's husband Edward died, she appeared to have moved to Miami and was beside Bob when he died on May 11, 1981.

As for what happened to their house in Delaware, well, here's what we know.

In honor of Bob Marley's former home on Tatnall St., the formerly named Tatnall Street Playground became "One Love Park" to remember the singer's hit 1977 song with The Wailers, "One Love/People Get Ready."

The park is located right across the street from the homes that the iconic singer and his mom previously occupied.

There is very little information on what happened to Marley's house in Delaware aside from the constructed playground, however, his house in Jamaica was transformed into a museum to immortalize his image and existence.

Marley's home was made out of 19th-century architecture, which had been the Reggae King's home from 1975 until 1981.

It was converted into a museum six years later by his wife, Rita, where the establishment showcases every memorabilia to commemorate Bob Marley: a photographic gallery, a record shop, a gift shop, and even a One Love Café.
