BLACKPINK Shock: K-pop Group's How You Like That Surpasses 1 Billion Views On YouTube

BLACKPINK officially embraced a new chapter in their career by dropping their first Korean-language studio album, The Album, in 2020. Its lead single, How You Like That, earned international success by topping different charts in several countries.

Upon releasing the single's music video, BLACKPINK immediately broke several YouTube records, including most views within 24 hours for a music video, fastest to garner 100 million and 200 million views, and most-watched premiere.

Exactly 505 days after its release, How You Like That reached a new milestone and led the YG supergroup to be on top again.

BLACKPINK's How You Like That Reaches 1 Billion Views

At 11:11 am KST on Thursday, How You Like That music video officially surpassed the 1 billion mark on the video streaming platform. The new record beat DDU-DU DDU-DU's previous record as the song reached the same honor in 514 days.

Previously, the same video became one of the most-liked videos on YouTube. Outside the platform, it received numerous accolades like Best Dance Award for a female group at the 2020 Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. In addition, it became the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards' Song of Summer.

How You Like That became BLACKPINK's fifth song to have over 1 billion views, following DDU-DU DDU-DUKill This Love, BOOMBAYAH, and As If It's Your Last.

The song reached international success, as well. On Billboard, it came 20th and 23rd ranks for the 25 Best Music Videos of 2020 and The 100 Best Songs of 2020.

It then ranked 18th among the Best K-pop Comebacks of 2020 by Metro and 19th among Pitchfork's 100 Best Songs of 2020.

BLACKPINK Members Earns Individual Recognitions

So far, three members of BLACKPINK have already made their solo debuts – and all of them broke and made records.

Most recently, BLACKPINK Lisa reached 100 million Spotify plays with her hit single MONEY. It led her to be hailed as the fastest K-pop solo artist to score the title, as it only took her 37 days to reach the milestone.

Meanwhile, Jennie became the first Korean female artist to gain 700 million views on YouTube with her single, Solo.

Meanwhile, Rose's On The Ground's music video, on the other hand, previously held the title for the music video by a Korean artist to have 41.6 million views in the first 24 hours. Lisa also broke that record.
