BLACKPINK officially embraced a new chapter in their career by dropping their first Korean-language studio album, The Album, in 2020. Its lead single, How You Like That, earned international success by topping different charts in several countries.
Upon releasing the single's music video, BLACKPINK immediately broke several YouTube records, including most views within 24 hours for a music video, fastest to garner 100 million and 200 million views, and most-watched premiere.
Exactly 505 days after its release, How You Like That reached a new milestone and led the YG supergroup to be on top again.
BLACKPINK's How You Like That Reaches 1 Billion Views
At 11:11 am KST on Thursday, How You Like That music video officially surpassed the 1 billion mark on the video streaming platform. The new record beat DDU-DU DDU-DU's previous record as the song reached the same honor in 514 days.
Previously, the same video became one of the most-liked videos on YouTube. Outside the platform, it received numerous accolades like Best Dance Award for a female group at the 2020 Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. In addition, it became the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards' Song of Summer.
How You Like That became BLACKPINK's fifth song to have over 1 billion views, following DDU-DU DDU-DU, Kill This Love, BOOMBAYAH, and As If It's Your Last.
The song reached international success, as well. On Billboard, it came 20th and 23rd ranks for the 25 Best Music Videos of 2020 and The 100 Best Songs of 2020.
It then ranked 18th among the Best K-pop Comebacks of 2020 by Metro and 19th among Pitchfork's 100 Best Songs of 2020.
