A while ago, we learned that Black Mirror is finally making its highly-anticipated return on Netflix with a sixth season renewal and the key creatives of the series coming back as well. Since then, we haven't heard a lot of updates regarding the next installments of the hit anthology series. Now, it looks like they have recruited their first batch of cast members for the new season.
According to Variety, Black Mirror has tapped Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), Josh Hartnett (Penny Dreadful), Kate Mara (House of Cards), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Clara Rugaard (I Am Mother), Auden Thornton (This Is Us), and Anjana Vasan (Killing Eve) to join the sixth season. The casting of the actors spans three episodes of the season with more expected to join in further episodes.
No details have been given regarding the roles of the newly-recruited actors or the episodes that they will appear in. Production for the season is believed to have started. It is expected to have more episodes than the fifth season, which only had three.
It is great to hear this casting news for the next season of Black Mirror since it is a tangible sign that it is officially moving forward and production is also underway which indicates that it is very likely that we will be able to stream the season by next year. It also sounds like we should be expecting more updates on the season soon since it will have more episodes than the last one that aired.
It is curious to see what stories the upcoming season has in store, especially with the state of the world that we're living in right now and the huge advancement of technology in recent years.
