Better Call Saul Season 6 is now down to one episode, meaning fans are about to see its much-awaited finale. So, what will happen at the end of the series? The show’s co-creator Vince Gillian cryptically teases what’s next for Gene Takovic, aka Saul Goodman, aka Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk).

Gene’s greatest fear happened after Marion (Carol Burnett) discovered his real identity. Gene almost did the unthinkable to preserve his secret, but, fortunately, he had a change of heart and escaped instead. So, will he end up a fugitive again in Better Call Saul Season 6 finale?


Vince Gilligan Teases Better Call Saul Season 6 Finale

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gilligan, who also wrote and directed the penultimate episode, Waterworks, was asked to tease the upcoming series final next week.

Fortunately, he gave in and dropped a cryptic teaser, saying Gene’s world would be “crashing down around his ears.”

He even asked fans to prepare for the drama they were about to witness.

He said,

“I mean, it looks to me like Gene Takovic/Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill's world is crashing down around his ears. It's gonna be dramatic. [Laughs] It's gonna be a big one. Buckle your seat belts.”

So, if he were to describe the upcoming Better Call Saul Season 6 finale in one word, he revealed it would be “Earned. Well-earned.”


He also warned fans about the ending, saying, “Stock up on Depends,” per TVLine.

Rhea Seehorn, Bob Odenkirk Describe Better Call Saul Season 6 Finale

Of course, the series’ lead stars, Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim Wexler, also describe the imminent end of Better Call Saul Season 6.

TVLine added that Seehorn called it “so thoughtful” and “respectful of the intelligence level of our fans.”

She added,

“I’m still thinking about the ending.”

Alternatively, Odenkirk summed up the finale with only three words: “Hard-won truth.”


What Will Happen to Gene is Better Call Saul Season 6 Finale?

According to Screen Rant, Gilligan seemed to allude that Gene would die in Better Call Saul Season 6 finale.

This might fit the creator’s “well-earned” description of Gene’s future as he continuously went down the darker path.

If that happens, it will repeat the Breaking Bad conclusion, where Walter White (Bryan Cranston) met his demise after officially turning bad.

However, it’s also possible that the series will have a Sopranos­­-like ending, where Gene will avoid capture and live a life of a fugitive, fearing he will be recognized.

Better Call Saul Season 6 finale, titled Saul Gone, will be out on Monday, August 15, on AMC. It can also be seen on Netflix on Tuesday, August 16.
