It goes without saying that Marvel Studios has mastered the art of post-credits scenes and since the inception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, it's been somewhat of a tradition for diehards to wait until the very end of each film (or series) to witness what surprises the billion-dollar franchise may have in store.

While post-credit scenes have already existed in other media prior to the MCU, there's no denying that Marvel has made the concept quite popular.

The MCU has set up teasers and connections between multiple heroes’ stories, films, and series through these end credits from the very beginning.

There may be way too many scenes to choose from, but we’ve compiled the top 12 best MCU movies’ post-credit scenes worth rewatching.

WARNING: If you haven’t watched the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for what’s about to come, so READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

  1. Where the Avengers Went After the Battle of New York

Let’s start off with the most basic (yet iconic) post-credit scenes in the MCU.

Not only was The Avengers (2012) the beginning phase of Nick Fury’s plan to build Earth’s Strongest Heroes, but it was also a great breakdown of chemistry among the members of the team.

The little Shawarma scene was a celebration and a realization of how they worked as a team, which eventually developed into their strong bond as friends. All while the owners of the Shawarma shop were cleaning up the mess post-Battle of New York.

  2. The Twins and The Winter Soldier

The post-credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) started connecting to the next big thing in the upcoming Avengers sequel.

After having just seen that Steve Rogers’ old buddy, Bucky Barnes, had been alive this whole time as a brainwashed soldier for Hydra, there comes the bigger bad the Avengers were about to face in Age of Ultron.

Aside from that was the fact that we also caught a glimpse of Bucky slowly starting to believe Steve’s words, that he has indeed been on his side in their past life.

  3. The Storm After Thor: Ragnarok

Taika Waititi’s MCU masterpiece, Thor: Ragnarok (2017), was all fun and games, a great way to loosen up the MCU fans before we faced the tragedy beheld right after the events of Thor and Loki’s journey of taking back Asgard: Thanos’s plan.

The two brothers may have reconciled their differences and are about to celebrate victory, only to find themselves confronted with a bigger ship hindering their way, leading to Avengers: Infinity War.

  4. Tony Stark’s Attempt To Recruit General Thunderbolt Ross

There may be continuity issues with The Incredible Hulk’s placement on the MCU timeline, but with Tony Stark appearing in the post-credit scenes, there could be a potential connection there.

Not to mention, it also featured the late William Hurt’s General Thunderbolt Ross, the soon-to-be President we’re going to see in Armor Wars pretty soon.

There has been news of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk getting his own solo movie, but nothing has come to fruition as of late.

  5. Doctor Strange Meets the God of Thunder

Although this scene wasn’t much of a teaser, and more of the actual cut scene in Thor: Ragnarok, it’s still worth mentioning it on this list.

Doctor Strange is just starting out and the first Avenger he meets is Thor, out of their common goal which is to make the god of mischief, Loki, disappear from Earth before he starts chaos once more.

  6. From the Shadows of MCU, Emerges the Ebony Blade

The Eternals answered pretty much every single question we’ve been dying to know since Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame occurred, but their post-credit scene caused yet another questionable future for the MCU.

In the Eternals’ post-credit scene, we see Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) opening a box that contains a dark sword and the plaque on the box translating to, ‘Death is my reward.’

Before Whitman could even touch the sword at his fingertips, a mysterious voice stopped him, “Sure you’re ready for that, Mr. Whitman?”

This is basically our first teaser to Mahershala Ali’s Blade the Vampire Hunter. He’ll be refreshing our memory once his solo film comes out in the near future.

  7. The Next Spider-Man Villain Still Lurks in the Corner

Spider-Man: No Way Home essentially opened up the idea of the Multiverse coming to fruition on MCU’s big screens.

Thanks to Peter Parker’s persistence in erasing his image from the minds of every person who knew him and Spider-Man, the complications behind Doctor Strange’s spell urged him to consistently tamper with the magic.

This, of course, ended up welcoming the alternate universe’s Spider-Man and their iconic villains. Little did they know, even Eddie Brock and Venom were in on this little open world.

Once everybody disappeared from the MCU, so did the host and his symbiote. However, the small spill from Venom remained stuck (and very much alive) from where he and Eddie were whipped out of the universe.

  8. The New Black Panther Meets Her Nephew

Chadwick Boseman’s death will never be forgotten in the MCU. Due to his unexpected passing, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever resorted to a different stage in hailing the next Black Panther, Shuri.

But one of the most heartwarming twists the sequel also portrayed was the fact that behind T’Challa’s passing, he had a son named Toussaint (Divine Love Konadu-Sun).

While Shuri was still mourning her brother’s death, her first meeting with her nephew brought a little spark in realizing T’Challa managed to leave his mark on this world, still.

  9. Nick Fury’s Last Resort Before He Turned Into Ash

The moment the Avengers lost and half of the Universe began turning into ash, Nick Fury was propelled out of the car after losing Maria Hill.

Before he could complete his dial on his beeper calling for a certain someone, he vanishes into thin air, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats as the beeper displayed Captain Marvel’s insignia.

  10. Captain Marvel Meets The Avengers

The Avengers manage to recover Nick Fury’s pager in the post-credit scene of Captain Marvel, a few moments after the Snap.

The team of heroes was completely lost as to who the S.H.I.E.L.D. director summoned. Lo and behold, Carol Danvers arrives in her super suit with one question in mind, “Where’s Fury?”

Yet another great big collab has been unveiled early on before Avengers: Endgame even happened, and it's the strongest Avenger meeting the team Fury has been building since he met Carol.

  11. Peter Parker and the Skrulls Get Exposed

One of the boldest plot twists the MCU decided to roll with was when Mysterio released a video exposing Spider-Man’s true identity in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Not only did this endanger Peter Parker’s secret alter, but the end credits also revealed that the Nick Fury we have been seeing on the big screens may not have been the real Fury all along.

Instead, we find him handling the S.A.B.E.R. space station across the galaxies.

  12. Nick Fury’s Official Introduction in the MCU

Saving the best for last, of course, it’s going to be where Marvel kickstarted the post-credit scene plan: in 2008’s Iron Man.

It’s the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s where we got our first ever Marvel hero to appear on the big screens, and it’s got Nick Fury assembling his Avengers team with Tony Stark as his first pick.

What more could you ask for?

The MCU continues to grow over time and this is definitely not going to be the last time we’re updating this list. But for now, this is the best MCU end credits to pick from.

Marvel Studios won’t be stopping with presenting more teasers in their future MCU films and series anytime soon, so there is a sure win to getting many more mid- and post-credit scenes in the upcoming years.

Hopefully, this is not the last time Marvel puts up their post-stingers for MCU fans to anticipate in cinemas.
