There was a time when fans were expecting to see Silver Surfer joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe a few years ago. After all, there were reports that actor Curt Clendenin had been cast as Silver Surfer in Avengers: Infinity War although the character's appearance was allegedly cut out of the film. Now Clendenin has spoken up to clarify the MCU casting.
Cledenin recently spoke to ComicBookMovie to promote his new movie Legend of Fall Creek. During the interview, the actor was asked about the iMDB credit that revealed he had been cast as Silver Surfer in Infinity War. Not surprisingly, Clendenin chose his words carefully.
"I'm not really allowed to say too much about what any of it's... You know, there's a lot," he said. Clendenin then added that the directors of Infinity War did a great job in teasing things that would happen in the film.
"I don't know if you've seen, like the... the Russo brothers are good at... how do I put it? They're good at leaving Easter Eggs too, and they like to have fun with things, you know?" Clendenin said.
Although Clendenin isn't admitting his casting, he did confirm that there is a lot of footage that was shot that didn't end up in the movie. On the other hand, these could soon see the light of day now that there are new Marvel shows.
"There's a lot of stuff that's not shown, and we've heard of all these new Marvel shows that are coming out, and we've heard about, let's say, certain side projects that directors may or may not have been rumored to work on,". Clendenin said.
We're not exactly surprised that Clendenin is teasing on the possibility of Silver Surfer eventually showing up in the MCU. After all, it has already been confirmed that a Fantastic Four reboot is in development and will be directed by Spider-Man 3 director Jon Watts. Could this mean that Silver Surfer will finally join the MCU?
The Silver Surfer was previously played by Star Trek: Discovery actor Doug Jones in Fantastic Four: The Rise of Silver Surfer. There are also speculations that Jones will be asked to reprise the role in the MCU although some believe that a new actor will be brought in to play the comic book hero.
