Only more than a month left before the release of Avatar: The Way of Water in theaters and the highly anticipated sequel unveils its official poster alongside the trailer which highlights the core characters of the film: Jake, Neytiri, Lo'ak, and Tsireya.

The official poster of Avatar: The Way of Water has been released with four characters highlighted: Jake, Neytiri, Lo'ak, and Tsireya. Lo'ak is the second child of Jake and Neytiri whereas Tsireya is a free-diver from Metkayina.

As teased in the trailer, Lo'ak and Tsireya are hinted to be involved in a romantic relationship even when they are from different tribes. Their presence in the official poster points to their bigger role in the sequel, possibly sparking some conflict.

Throughout the trailers, a battle is about to happen and the official poster, too, teases the same battle which may be led by Jake. An inner conflict is also revealed in the trailer between Jake and Neytiri, probably about keeping their family safe.

Surprisingly, Kiri is not in the official poster despite the trailer teasing a big role for her. It is only Kiri who can hear the mysterious heartbeat which she refers to as "her," indicating that it is a female. Could it be Eywa speaking to Kiri?

Also, the trailer revealed the reason why the title of the sequel is Avatar: The Way of Water where it is explained that the way of water is what connects everything and even more specific, "Before your birth and after your death."

Avatar: The Way of Water is set for a theatrical release on December 16, 2022.
