Avatar: The Last Airbender Novel Shadow of Kyoshi Releasing This July

Avatar: The Last Airbender fans got to return to the world built by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino when F.C. Yee released The Rise of Kyoshi last year.

Now it looks like fans are getting a follow up to the amazing story based on the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

According to a report by Geek Tyrant,The Shadow of Kyoshi is going to hit shelves later this year, offering fans a follow up to The Rise of Kyoshi. Like the last book, The Shadow of Kyoshi is going to be written by F.C. Yee with DiMartino serving as a consultant on the novel.

Here's the synopsis for the upcoming novel:

Kyoshi's place as the true Avatar has finally been cemented—but at a heavy cost. With her mentors gone, Kyoshi voyages across the Four Nations, struggling to keep the peace. But while her reputation grows, a mysterious threat emerges from the Spirit World. To stop it, Kyoshi, Rangi, and their reluctant allies must join forces before the Four Nations are destroyed irreparably. This thrilling follow-up continues Kyoshi's journey from a girl of humble origins to the merciless pursuer of justice still feared and admired centuries after becoming the Avatar.

While The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi don't feature any of our favorite heroes from the GAANG, fans love that there's another story set in the magnificent world of Avatar.

The Shadow of Kyoshi is set for release on July 21. Fans can pre-order their copy through a variety of book stores and retailers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

In other Avatar news, the original series is making its way to Netflix on May 15.
