After successfully leaving the harbor with the ship, the Allied Soldiers, led by Hange Zoe, decide to go directly to Odiha as part of her original plan with Magath. Even if Hange and Magath want to check and go to other places, they don't have any more time to waste in order to stop Eren's rumbling. They have no option but to leave for Odiha, much to Annie's chagrin about her hometown of Liberio.

Annie initially joins the Allied Soldiers with the sole intention of returning to her father, who lives in Liberio. When she learns of Magath and Hange's decisions, she falls to her knees and sobs over the disappointing truth.

Hange explains that even if the Colossal Titans halt their march towards Marley and Liberio, these lands will still be destroyed. While Magath is aware of this sad reality, the major continues to sacrifice his life in order for the Alliance to advance and save as much of humanity as possible. Perhaps this is his atonement for spending his entire life-fighting Paradis.

When Annie finally breaks down and cries in front of a large crowd, including Mikasa, you know it's the end of the world. It's a heartbreaking moment in which fans can't help but join Annie and the rest of the Allied Soldiers in the face of Attack on Titan's cruel reality.

Annie finally breaks down after learning of Magath's death and her inability to help save her father in Liberio. She questions her motivation for fighting Eren as well as saving the rest of humanity's lives.

She also asks Mikasa if she has the power to kill Eren if the situation demands it. Annie believes Mikasa will be unable to complete the task, which will force her to fight her comrades once more. Annie refuses to fight any more of her comrades because the cycle will never end. This scene makes fans realize that Annie most likely cries whenever she needs to kill a comrade, or possibly any civilian back in the day.

If memory serves, the first time we see Annie cry is during her cadet days and in her Female Titan form. She is so close to going home, yet so far away after Levi and Mikasa retrieve Eren from her. All of her killings appear to have been in vain, and she is now forced to fight and take more lives.
