Annie and Reiner are back in action in Attack on Titan Episode 85, titled "Traitor." With only two episodes remaining on the schedule, this episode marks the beginning of the end of the magnum opus. As a result, the timing is ideal for MAPPA to animate Annie and Reiner fighting alongside each other in their titan forms against the Yeagirists in Attack on Titan Episode 85.
The previous episode, Attack on Titan Episode 84, featured not only Jean's dream but also Mikasa and Annie's confrontation, as well as a discussion among Allied Soldiers members. Before I forget, we also witnessed Levi waking up as a result of the noise caused by Jean and Reiner, which was a hilarious sight to behold.
Anyway, we haven't seen the Female Titan's rampage with the Armored Titan in forever. It feels like they've been gone for a long period of time, and now that they're back, we can't keep our excitement to ourselves, so we felt compelled to share the events of Attack on Titan Episode 85 in this article.

What happened in Attack on Titan Episode 85?

Attack on Titan Episode 85 is a complete departure from the previous episode. While the previous episode featured awkward scenes, Attack on Titan Episode 85 features brutal action. On that note, the latest episode takes us to the harbor, where the Yeagirists are holding the Azumabito clan hostage in order to obtain the airship boat.
Meanwhile, Hange and Magath are scouting the area for a viable plan to contain the Yeagirists and locate Eren's Founding Titan. The remaining Survey Corps members, on the other hand, are in the midst of bargaining with the Marley warriors.
While Annie wants to do everything at once, including killing everyone in their path, Armin and the others don't want to smear their hands with more blood because the Yeagirists are some of their friends. They deliberately discuss their plans while questioning their motivations and moral responsibilities. Armin appears to have come up with the Allied Soldiers' plan in the end, while Yelena has been beaten up by Magath in the process.
Moving on, Armin and Connie attempt to deceive Floch, but fail due to rumors that they have betrayed the Eldians, much to their surprise. At the same time, they come across Samuel and Daz, who are both preparing to bomb the airship boat. Following Floch's declaration that Armin and Connie are both traitors, they engage in a fight that results in Armin being shot in the face, as well as the emotional and heartbreaking deaths of Samuel and Daz at the hands of the grieving Connie.
Following that, Floch realizes the pieces of Armin's plan and discovers that they are being attacked by the Allied Soldiers, at which point Mikasa appears and saves the Azumabito matriarch as well as the detained mechanical engineers. The Allied soldiers infiltrate the building and retreat to the basement for safety.
Meanwhile, Annie and Reiner fight the Yeagirists side by side in order to steal the airship boat. The Allied Soldiers overwhelm the Yeagirists as Annie and Reiner transform into the Female Titan and the Armored Titan, respectively.
Levi, Yelena, Pieck, and the others watch in the background as the rest of the team infiltrates the harbor. To the chagrin of everyone, especially the wounded Levi, Yelena goes on to say that humans can't separate themselves from violence.
The smooth animation of Annie and Reiner going side-by-side into action as they morph into their titan forms is something MAPPA is proud of once again. They brought the visuals of the two huge humanoids to the viewers flawlessly in Attack on Titan Episode 85.
As usual, this episode was beautifully animated by MAPPA. Moreover, this scenario will almost certainly go down as one of the most iconic and memorable moments from Attack on Titan's last season.
How the tables have turned! The last time we saw the both of them, they were fighting Armin and friends, yet today they are on the same side of the battlefield. How we long to see Annie and Reiner in their ODM gear again! In Attack on Titan Episode 85, the only duo that matters is Annie and Reiner. Even Connie and Armin’s heartbreaking and gut-wrenching scene doesn’t even compare.
