What is Jean’s Dream About?
The episode starts with Jean reimagining his married life with Mikasa. It is a short and bittersweet dream which involves his yearning for a prime estate in the central region of Paradis where he can deluge on all of the finest wine of the world while happily living with Mikasa and their baby (that looks a lot like kid Eren, no hate).
What if and what could have been? These are some of the questions Jean had in mind while dwelling in his quarters and before Hange made an appearance to ask him to join the fight to stop Eren’s genocide. As seen in the episode, Jean is having a hard time processing all the things that are happening around him. This is evidently portrayed by Jean putting his hand in between his ears as a habit whenever he gets overwhelmed with difficult situations.
Will he choose the lesser evil? Will he join the allied soldiers? What will happen if they stopped Eren? Will there be a Titan war again? There is so much that is happening inside the universe of Attack on Titan that every character has drastically changed from Season 1 of the anime to the final season.
Including Jean, characters like Connie Springer and notably Hange Zoe have been damaged forever. Therefore, the latest episode is an essential breather for the characters despite fans clamoring over its awkward and boring moments. Actually, it is a norm among anime shows to have at least one or two episodes without exciting scenes. Even huge anime titles like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen do this kind of thing in order to save the budget for a more important episode.
Is it Mikasa or Pieck?
Attack on Titan fans broke the internet once again as Jean trended overnight following the release of the latest episode of Attack on Titan. Some fans even label Jean as a DILF (bet you know the abbreviation already) because of his fine portrayal as a father to Mikasa’s baby. However, some fans argue that the girl in the dream is not Mikasa, but instead Pieck Finger, the current inheritor of the Cart Titan.
Because of some interactions between Jean and Pieck, new shipping has formed and was later called JeanPiku. Quick to stop the argument, JeanKasa fans rebut with a piece of evidence. They went to the extreme and posted a screenshot of the girl in the dream who has a scar on her face. Notably, Mikasa has the same scar as the girl in Jean’s reimagination.

Does Jean Marry Mikasa in Attack on Titan?
As of this writing, the marriage between Jean and Mikasa is not yet confirmed nor denied. There are only fan theories and speculations all around the internet forums that extract the concrete details from the controversial manga panel by the end of the series.
If you haven’t seen this manga panel, it features a girl who looks a lot like Mikasa holding a baby while an unknown man who looks a lot like Jean is assisting her from behind in front of Eren Yeager’s grave. There are a lot of theories about this manga panel, which led to various arguments. First, some fans believe that the girl is not Mikasa, but Historia. Second, the girl is again not Mikasa, but Pieck. Third, the girl is Mikasa, but she is not joined with Jean; instead, it was Armin. Phew! What a mess!
As long as Hajime Isayama keeps mum on the events post-rumbling, it is up to the fans to decide whether their canon has officially shipped or not.
