Oshi no Ko was just confirmed to have an upcoming live-action film adaptation, and its announcement came with a main cast reveal. Following the announcement, many fans were buzzing about who Asuka Saito would play in the Oshi no Ko live-action movie.
Saito being cast in the movie got a lot of attention in the idol fandom given her popularity as a former member of one of Japan’s top idol groups.
Her casting is also spot-on given how Oshi no Ko features a story about Japan’s entertainment industry.
Oshi no Ko Live-Action Film Is in the Works
Since Spring 23, Oshi no Ko has become a household name among anime fans thanks to the anime adaptation by Doga Kobo.
The original manga by Kaguya-sama author Aka Akasaka and Scum’s Wish creator Mengo Yokoyari was already popular before, but the anime’s success no doubt boosted its popularity.
Thanks to how big of a success it became, the anime was quickly renewed for a second season that’s set to be released later this year.
Now, another adaptation has been announced, and this time, it will be a live-action film that’s also set to be released in late 2024. Alongside the announcement was the reveal of its main cast members.
Main Cast Revealed in the Oshi no Ko Movie
The live-action movie’s cast is an interesting mix of stars, as it features former idol group members.
To start, Ruby Hoshino will be played by Nagisa Saito, a former member of the =LOVE idol group. Aqua Hoshino, meanwhile, will be portrayed by Kaito Sakurai, an actor with several live-action roles.
Another notable cast member is Nanoka Hara, who will play the role of Kana Arima. Hara is best known for being the voice of Suzume in Makoto Shinkai’s latest film of the same name.
Meanwhile, Mem-cho’s actress is ano, the popular singer of Chainsaw Man’s sixth ending song, as well as a lead VA in Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction.
Akane Kurokawa be played by Mizuki Kayashima, a Japanese actress who played roles in Japanese dramas such as The Greatest Teacher and the movie, Our Secret Diary.
As for Asuka Saito, her role is perhaps the most important one of all.

Asuka Saito: Her Role in the Oshi no Ko Live-Action Film
Asuka Saito is a Burmese-Japanese actress who is best known as a former member of the popular idol group Nogizaka46.
In the Oshi no Ko movie, Asuka Saito will play the role of Ai Hoshino. As a popular former idol, Saito should be a great fit, especially given Ai Hoshino’s status as a premiere idol.
Aside from being a popular Nogizaka46 member, Saito is also no stranger to the anime world. After all, she previously played Midori Asakusa in the live-action adaptation of Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
The Oshi no Ko live-action film is set to be released in Winter 2024, though this likely means later this year and not the January to March 2024 anime season.
