We know very little about Miyamura Izumi's family background. Yes, we saw him always helping his mother, but we have yet to meet his father or any other relative in the anime. So, after the appearance of Honoka Sawada, we can't help but question if Miyamura and Sawada are related in Horimiya.
Izumi Miyamura is one half of the Horimiya ship. He is currently dating Hori Kyoko, and the two of them, along with Honoka Sawada and the rest of the romance anime's beloved supporting characters, are returning for Horimiya: The Missing Pieces!

What’s the Deal With Honoka Sawada?
Honoka Sawada first appeared as a mysterious and intriguing character in the Horimiya anime. She was always on the lookout for Izumi and Hori, watching them from afar as if she were spying on them.
And most of the time, Sawada has this serious and intimidating expression plastered on her face whenever she sees the new couple together.
It was uncomfortable seeing her do all these things, and we thought some trouble would befall Hori and Izumi.
This also led us to believe Sawada had feelings for Izumi. We assumed that Sawada would get in the way of Hori and Izumi's developing romance, complicating matters for the two of them.
Typically, this is what happens in school romance anime shows, where another female character enters the picture, causing complications for the main couple.
This has been some kind of anime character trope or cliché plotline, and we wouldn't be surprised if Honoka Sawada is that kind of character.
But Horimiya never led the audience astray—Sawada is different! Despite this, Sawada remains an intriguing character for the majority of Horimiya fans because of her character design, which seems to closely resemble that of Izumi Miyamura.

So, Are Miyamura and Sawada Related?
Certainly not. Despite their striking resemblance, Sawada and Miyamura are unrelated. But if other people see Sawada and Miyamura together on the street, they will undoubtedly assume they are siblings due to their striking similarity.
Understandably, Sawada has the same black hair and deep blue eyes as Izumi. These are some of the reasons we thought that they were related.
They also act like siblings whenever they are together, which adds to our speculation.
But the truth is that Sawada and Miyamura are not related by blood. It just so happens that they resemble each other. They also happen to live in the same apartment building as neighbors!
Nonetheless, at the end of the day, let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. After all, we don’t know a lot of information about Sawada and Miyamura’s family backgrounds.
There might be a connection there, and their resemblance might not be a coincidence.

Is Sawada in Love With Miyamura?
No, Sawada is not in love with Miyamura. She only sees Miyamura as an older brother and nothing more. Besides, Sawada is not the type of girl who would go after a man who already has a girlfriend.
In case you didn’t know, Sawada had an older brother back in the day, but unfortunately, he passed away at a young age.
The reason why Sawada’s brother died was never revealed. What is certain is that she was very close to him. This is why Sawada sees her brother in Izumi, especially in his actions.
Sawada has some sort of phobia toward men, but with Izumi, she doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
In fact, she would often hide behind Izumi for fear of talking to or interacting with other men.
Whenever Sawada is scared, she also goes to Izumi’s house to calm herself. There is absolutely no malice at all.
Perhaps the correct question to ask is if Sawada is in love with Hori and not Miyamura.
She was very infatuated with Hori, and she even threatened Miyamura with breaking up with her.
It’s funny, but Sawada looks up to Hori the most. She admires her a lot, so she would often get angry at any guy who would try to take her away.
