Aquatope of White Sand returned with its sixth episode, proving that, for all the uneventfulness, it's suited to the weekly form. Unlike more action-packed works that are better off when binged, Shiroi Suna no Aquatope is a weekly moment of calm, in what is a difficult summer for many.
Don't go the new episode hungry, though! Amidst its other positives, Aquatope of White Sand proved that it's one of those anime that make any food they depict appear delicious - episode 6 definitely let me wanted a sea-life-themed shaved ice!
As the slice-of-life show goes on alternating between joy and melancholy - with the odd hint about something supernatural going on, this is becoming a favorite weekly habit that will leave you wanting more. Aquatope of White Sand is the story of Kukuru Misakino, who works as the director of her grandparents' aquarium during the holidays; and Fuuka Miyazawa, who ends up working in the aquarium after failing as an idol.
If you haven't watched Aquatope of White Sand Episode6, you might want to do so before proceeding. Expect some spoilers below:
Kukuru is upset when she finds out that the imminent closure of Gama Gama Aquarium is on the papers. Along with her co-workers, she seeks ways to attract more customers. Fuuka suggests selling ice cream, so the girls employ Udon-chan, Fuuka's childhood friend who works in her mother's restaurant to help.
Unfortunately, for them, this is when the anime becomes too slice-of-life for the girls' good. Udon-chan's mother reminds the girls that they can't easily start selling foods, as the local authorities would not allow it, and special permits are required.
Τhe girls settle for shaved ice which is easier to obtain a permit form and the clients are excited that Udon-chan makes each order look like an animal of the aquarium.
Kukuru befriends an old man who has visited the aquarium every year ever since she can remember and listens to his story. When he first visited the aquarium as a young man, he got a glimpse of his long-dead brother, which inspired him to move on with his life and start his own business. He then decided to return every year but he never saw his brother again.
In an almost supernatural moment, Kukuru sees her own dead parents in the water, and when she looks at her surroundings again, she finds the old man crying, having seen his brother again. Now, this is a bit far-fetched and I'd otherwise find it hard to believe anything paranormal is happening. Then again, there is this cute, sleepy little spirit at the temple each time Fuuka and Kukuru go to pray. Thankfully, at 24 episodes, we might actually find out!
Aquatope of White Sand Episode 7Release Date
Aquatope of White Sand Episode 7, titled "Toast with Ice Cream" is scheduled to air on Friday, the 20th of August for premium Crunchyroll users. Due to time zone differences, many international fans will be able to stream it from the 19thof August.
A dub has not yet been announced but this could change at any point - the show deserves it.
