A lot of people were shocked when one of the favorite Hollywood couples announced their shocking split, Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet called it quits after being together for 16 years. However, a contributing factor heightened the difference between the two: the filming for Aquaman 2 where the actor had to be away for quite some time.
After Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet announced their separation on January 13, in a report from Entertainment Tonight, it has been said that the couple has already been struggling for quite some time. The source said that their issues and differences were “heightened” when Jason Momoa had to be away from Lisa Bonet for a while resulting in additional stress to the couple.
Couple splits are usually common in Hollywood but many fans thought that forever exists between Momoa and Bonet given how their relationship started and how Momoa had a crush on Bonet, having her would be a dream come true for him. Sadly, not all good things last. The split of the couple was a surprise but they have been in a know for a while already.
Fans even point fingers as to who is responsible, even dragging Momoa’s Aquaman co-star Amber Heard into the issue, who, herself, is facing a lot of stress following her split with ex-husband Johnny Depp in a controversial legal battle.
Sometimes, maybe being apart does not grow the heart fonder. Especially when there is an existing problem between a couple, the distance could put stress on both parties.
In a joint statement, Momoa shared the devastating news on Instagram, "We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy. But so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become…"
Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet had been together for sixteen years from 2005 and they married each other in 2017. They have two children, Lola and Nakoa Wolf, 14 and 13 years old respectively. Bonet had a daughter with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz, and Momoa is her stepfather.
Aquaman 2 finished filming in early this month, James Wan confirmed it on the same day Momoa announced his split with Bonet.
Aquaman 2 is set to release on December 16, 2022.
