To further build up hype for the ongoing anime, Spy x Family recently unveiled a Lawson collab that features special goods, including Anya’s favorite peanuts.
This new collab was revealed on the Spy x Family Twitter account, with more details being released on the Lawson website.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Lawson is a popular convenience store chain in Japan.
Why Is Spy x Family So Popular?
A Lawson collab for the anime series is no surprise given how popular it is. After all, this isn’t the first time that the anime got a collab with a major brand.
Spy x Family is an anime series by Wit Studio and CloverWorks that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo. The manga is serialized in Jump+ with a bi-weekly release schedule, and its first chapter was released in March 2019.
Even before the anime was announced, the series was already popular. It is even considered one of the flagship titles of Jump+. This is likely because of the series’ interesting premise.
Its story follows Twilight, a Westalian spy who is tasked to spy on the neighboring country of Ostania.
Specifically, he must get close to a high-ranking Ostanian official to prevent a war between the two neighboring nations.
As part of his plan to get close to his target, Twilight takes on the alias of Loid Forger, adopts the orphan Anya, and marries city hall clerk Yor Briar.
Without him knowing though, Yor is an assassin called Thorn Princess.
Meanwhile, his newly adopted daughter Anya is a telepath, making her the only one who knows the truth about their family.
The first half of the series aired in Spring 2022, and it became the season’s biggest hit in terms of streaming numbers.
Its second half is airing in the ongoing Fall 2022 season.
What Is the Spy x Family x Lawson Collab?
This new collab features a range of products with Spy x Family designs, including a pack of Anya’s Favorite Peanuts, Peanuts Strawberry Chocolate, and more. Most of these collaboration products are for popular snacks and sweets.
By purchasing these special items, buyers can receive a clear file or can badge for free, though these goodies will only be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
As a bonus, there will also be an app lottery where entrants can get to win an Anya-inspired cushion and cushion case (via Comic Natalie).
This collaboration is available only in Lawson stores in Japan.
Nonetheless, Spy x Family is available on various streaming platforms all over the world. The fifteenth episode is set to release this Saturday.
