One of the most-anticipated upcoming MCU films is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as it will be the third installment of Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne's solo journey and it will be the formal introduction of Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. However, it looks like Kang won't be the only villain who will be making an appearance in the film.
The Direct has reported that MODOK will have a major role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, contrary to the previous reports and rumors, Jim Carrey will NOT be playing the character in the film. They also didn't specify what kind of role MODOK will play in the story.
We do have to take this news with a grain of salt since it is not yet confirmed by Marvel Studios nor reported by the major trades. However, The Direct has a solid reputation when it comes to reporting exclusive news so there is a high likelihood that this news is accurate.
The report indicated that MODOK was included in a previous script draft of the film written by Paul Rudd and it seems that the character managed to be part of the final version of the film after multiple rewrites. There is also a likelihood that AIM, the organization that the character is known to be associated in the comics, will also be making an appearance in the film.
If MODOK does appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it means that the film will now have two major villains that are going to be introduced. The question now is what kind of role will MODOK play in the film especially since it already has Kang as the main antagonist? There is a possibility that they will be working together or maybe they will also be competing and Ant-Man and the Wasp will fight them separately. We will find out soon enough once we hear more details about the film.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantuamnia is set to be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
