Ant-Man 3 Almost Cast Jennifer Coolidge for a Special Role

Thanks to The White Lotus, Jennifer Coolidge has become a bigger household name than ever before in her career. She is winning a lot of awards for her role in the HBO series, she has become part of the current zeitgeist thanks to her popular memes around social media, and there has been a wider appreciation of her talent as an actress.

With her popularity, it is inevitable at this point that we might see her in bigger projects very soon. In fact, there is a recent rumor that she might be joining the MCU although that remains unconfirmed. However, it looks like she did almost join the franchise for a special role in its recent film.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness revealed that Coolidge was almost cast to play the special but brief part of Linda during the film. However, it didn't happen as the character was only mentioned and did not appear physically.

To refresh your memory, Hank Pym mentioned in the film that he had a fling with a woman named Linda back when Janet van Dyne was stuck in Quantum Realm for around 30 years. The White Lotus star would have played the character.

"I don’t know if I should say this or not. I don’t think it even made it into pages, but we wanted Jennifer Coolidge to be Linda for a brief moment. It never reached beyond a Zoom between ourselves, but I had some good ideas there," Loveness said.

"But Linda never made it, and Jennifer Coolidge, I don’t think she ever got a call. We’ll save her for next time. I’m sure she’ll wind up in the MCU, sometime. She can be Doctor Doom."

Obviously, Loveness was just joking in the last part although we could indeed see the actress in the MCU at some point considering that Marvel Studios is working on multiple projects which would also mean that they will be looking for a lot of actors to cast in their films and TV shows.

Let's wait and see whether Coolidge will end up becoming part of the MCU in the future. With her newfound popularity and now being on the radar of Marvel, the possibility is certainly out there and it wouldn't be surprising if it does happen.
