Andor Showrunner Confirms K-2SO's Return in Season 2

Andor recently aired its first season finale which sets up a promising direction for the second and final season as we're now going to see the rise of the rebellion and the years that will lead up to the events of Rogue One. Some fans are wondering whether we will see other characters from the film show up in the second season and now it looks like that will happen with one of them.

Speaking with Collider, showrunner Tony Gilroy was asked whether the second season will include the appearance of K-2SO. He confirmed that they are indeed planning to introduce the beloved droid character since they are going to lead up to the events of Rogue One.

"Well, I think that's one of the responsibilities of Part 2. Obviously, if we're going to walk into Rogue, we have to deal with that," he said.

Back when the series was first announced, Alan Tudyk, who plays K-2SO, was originally set to appear in the first season and he even appeared during the D23 presentation back in 2019 to confirm his involvement. However, prior to the series airing, the actor revealed that he won't be appearing in its first season at all.

It is not surprising that we will be seeing K-2SO during the second season considering his close ties with Cassian Andor and there is no doubt that they are likely to show how the two characters meet and form a bond as we saw during the film.

Since the events will be closer to Rogue One than ever before, it also wouldn't be surprising if the other supporting characters will make an appearance as well to tie it all together. Either way, it is exciting to see what they have in store for the second and final season and, as they teased, it's definitely going to be a wild ride.
