Lucasfilm made sure that they brought out their biggest guns last December at Disney's 2020 Investor Day and during the virtual spectacle, we finally got our first official look at the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff series Andor which will see the return of actor Diego Luna in the titular role.

As the title suggests, Andor will revolve around the exploits of Cassian Andor, presumably his humble beginnings as a soldier and pilot before crossing paths with Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). As it stands, we still know very little about the show other than the fact that it's currently in production.

While Jones appearing in the series seems doubtful for now, fans remain thrilled for the show's arrival because it's set to see the Star Wars reunion of Luna and co-actor Alan Tudyk who brought life into the charismatic fan-favorite droid K-2SO.

However, we've got some bad news for you. With Andor undergoing several production changes over the last couple of months, the project's plotline has seemingly been altered as well and that includes the set of characters to appear. Tudyk confirms in a recent interview with Collider that K-2SO will no longer be part of the show's first season. "They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there."

We have no idea how long the series will run but if it's able to replicate the success of The Mandalorian or even surpass it, there's no doubt that Andor will be sticking around for at least two more seasons. And although it sucks that we might not get to see K-2SO right away, that's alright as long as they'll build everything up nicely leading up to their first encounter.

Andor is slated for release in 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
