Anakin and the Emperor Reunite in Photo from SWCC 2019

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace just reached its 20th Anniversary this year, and Celebration 2019 is filled with special guests from the movie. Though everyone is excited to see Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) at the event, it's actually a whole different thing watching the actors come together.

Though the two are considered very integral to the prequel trilogy, McDiarmid and Christensen haven't worked together since Revenge of the Sith. McDiarmid did reprise his role of Palpatine for Rebels, but Christensen has basically been under the radar since the film save for some B-movies here and there. They didn't even ask him to voice Anakin for Star Wars Battlefront II; then again, there's a good chunk of the fanbase that prefers Matt Lanter's Anakin.

For now, we only have confirmation that Palpatine will be coming back for The Rise of Skywalker, but there are hopes that Christensen could reprise Anakin for the movie. We know that the concept of a wrecked Death Star was being thrown around for The Force Awakens and is now coming to life with TROS, what are the odds that they do the same thing with Anakin's force ghost?

Hopefully we get some more clarification as the year trudges along. We're likely to get fuller trailers for TROS down the line, but a reveal for Anakin may be held off way until the release of the film.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
