What Are Some Recent Star Wars Releases?

Star Wars is undeniably one of the longest-running franchises to ever exist in history and it continues to deliver more projects as the story of the galaxy far, far away expands, now with television series to fill in the gaps between movies.

Kathleen Kennedy laid down the slate of Star Wars on Disney Plus in a feature in Vanity Fair, she said,

“What’s unique about Star Wars is that we’re one story, basically. George was always dealing with episodes.
Ironically, he was serializing his storytelling. He was influenced by Flash Gordon and cliff-hangers on Saturdays at movie theaters.”

Kennedy added that everything in the story fits somewhere and it makes sense to have shows to fill in the gaps.

All of that informed what the DNA of Star Wars is, which is why I think it’s just organic that we made the transition into television.”

It all started with Obi-Wan Kenobi which was released on May 25, 2022.

The Jedi-in-exile was back with Ewan McGregor in a show set ten years after Revenge of the Sith.

Andor came next, in the Summer of 2022, following Diego Luna’s character in a secret uprising versus the Empire after Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Mandalorian Season 3 came next in early 2023, picking up where Season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett ended.

The Acolyte is next in line. This will be a mystery thriller during the last days of the High Republic Era.

Then, there is a new series that is yet to be named, just codenamed “Grammar Rodeo.”

There may also be a series titled Lando but without a release date yet.

A Droid Story is also on the line-up. Two untitled films are also next, directed by Taika Waititi, and a project by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.

This shows a promising future for the franchise and if all these go well, then, the legacy of Star Wars will continue for generations to come.
