Ahsoka Season 1 Receives Major Update From The Mandalorian Creator

March marks the return of The Mandalorian for its third season, and one of its stars is set to have her spin-off sooner rather than later. The upcoming spinoff series centered around beloved Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is now in post-production, as revealed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau. Ahsoka hasn’t premiered, but it was also previously announced that a season 2 is in the works.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Favreau and Dave Filoni, who co-created Ahsoka Tano with George Lucas, were asked if the fan-favorite Force user would appear in The Mandalorian Season 3. “Well, the good news is there's a whole Ahsoka show,” Favreau said, “I'll talk about it so Dave doesn't have to, but we're in post-production,” he added. “He's done filming; the visual effects are starting to come in, and the music is starting to come in. Great cast, and what a rich legacy to build upon.” Favreau teased.

Lucasfilm announced Ahsoka in December 2020. It was previously designated a limited series like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Lucasfilm changed it to a regular series more akin to The Mandalorian and Andor. The story will take place during the same time as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Skeleton Crew. The Disney+ series will follow the former Jedi knight as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

Ahsoka is also a spiritual continuation of the animated series Star Wars Rebels, with Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) confirmed to make their live-action debuts in the upcoming spinoff. The character Ahsoka Tano first appeared as Anakin Skywalker's 14-year-old padawan in the Clone Wars animated film in 2008. She also became a recurring character in Star Wars Rebels, and the animated miniseries Tales of the Jedi also explored her origins and early adventures.

Ahsoka is expected to premiere in late 2023.
