Starting with the introduction of Billy and Tommy in WandaVision, it has been speculated that the Young Avengers will be making their debut in the MCU soon. While Marvel Studios has been keeping mum on their plans regarding it, evidence has suggested that it is indeed going to be the case.
In the soon-to-film upcoming WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos, there have been rumors that Joe Locke, who is confirmed to be part of the cast, will play Wiccan in the series although there has been no confirmation about his role. Now, another new cast member has also joined and it sounds like he will also play another Young Avenger.
Last Friday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that newcomer actor Miles Gutierrez-Riley has been cast to join Agatha: Coven of Chaos. However, at that time, they didn't provide details about the role that he is going to play in the series.
Now, a recent report from Murphy's Multiverse dug deep into the actor's casting in the series where they claimed that Gutierrez-Riley may have been cast as Teddy Altman aka Hulkling, who Marvel comic fans know as another member of the Young Avengers.
The outlet came to the conclusion as they noted a casting call back in October 2022 where they were looking for a gay actor between the ages of 18 and 20 for a role that is described as having “a kind soul” with a “great sense of humor” who is also totally in love with his boyfriend and has an athletic build.
The report noted that the "athletic build" may be a hint that the role is for Hulkling, which is a perfect description for the character. While they also pointed out that Gutierrez-Riley does not match the age range, Marvel Studios still finds actors that are at least closer to that.
As Marvel Studios is still keeping mum on this alleged casting news, we do have to take this with a grain of salt. However, with all the evidence that we've seen here, there is a strong likelihood that it ends up being true after all.
If Hulkling does end up appearing in the series, it is certainly interesting to learn since it gives a bigger momentum to the speculation that the Young Avengers are going to make their MCU debut and it sounds like Marvel has been assembling the potential cast for that group. Let's just wait and see whether it ends up being true.
