There is no question that Agatha Harkness left quite an impression on the audience as Kathryn Hahn first portrayed the character in WandaVision. Now that the actress is set to make her own series, the WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, MCU fans are highly expectant on a new storyline coming into view. However, a new report (via Midgard Times and The Direct) has just emerged in which the filming schedule for the Agatha spinoff will inevitably affect its initial 2023 release window.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos first began filming on December 13, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia before going on Holiday on December 17th. While this already indicates setting up a later release date than Winter 2023, its initially speculated release window, nothing has been confirmed yet. Although a December 2022 rumor did imply that the Agatha spinoff could possibly suffer a two-year delay, meaning a 2025 release date.
See, the series was supposed to begin filming in October 2022, but this had to be moved to January 2023, but thankfully, the series managed to get some filming ahead in December 2022. Seeing as Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to have nine episodes, similar to WandaVision, it may take a longer time to finish post-production.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos reportedly had its plot reveal in which we will see a different side of Kathryn Hahn’s titular character. While Agatha played an antagonistic role in Wandavision, we will likely be seeing her as the “good guy” version, as she is rumored to be on a mission in protecting Billy Kaplan (to be played by Heartstopper’s Joe Locke) and Tommy Shepherd (the reincarnation of Scarlet Witch’s kids) from Aubrey Plaza’s character. Although Plaza’s role has been kept under wraps, we can presume that her character belongs to a new group of magic wielders alongside Mephisto, who is likely to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen, as recent reports stated.
As it stands, we can only expect Agatha: Coven of Chaos around late 2023 to early 2024. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this story here on EpicStream.
