aespa will make history again at the Governors Ball Music Festival 2023.

SM Entertainment introduced aespa in 2020 as the company's first girl group since Red Velvet's debut in 2014 and the first K-pop act after NCT. The K-pop girl group marked its first music show win on Inkigayo on Jan. 17, 2021.

aespa scored its first top-five hit in South Korea when it released Next Level in the same year. On the other hand, Savage ultimately became its first and highest entry on the Billboard 200. The K-pop act has since won its first Daesang at the Asia Artist Awards and was the first artist to become the global ambassador for Givenchy.

Aside from these "firsts" milestones, aespa will add another record under its belt.

aespa To Perform at Governors Ball Music Festival 2023

The official Twitter account of the Governors Ball Music Festival unveiled the official poster of its upcoming event Tuesday. It shared the list of performers who would dominate the stage at Flushing Meadows from June 9 to 11.

For its June 10 date, aespa will join Odesza (main act), Lil Baby, and Rina Sawayama on stage. Other performers include Lauv, Oliver Tree, Finneas, Kenny Beats, Koffee, Snail Mail, Amber Mark, SYD, Suki Waterhouse, Kennyhoopla, Lovejoy, Evan Giia, Sarah Kinsley, Flipturn, The Amazons, and Zolita.

A pre-sale for the event is currently ongoing.

SM Entertainment, according to Korea JoongAng Daily, confirmed aespa's appearance at the New York City music festival. aespa would officially become the first K-pop artist to perform at the event.

Previously, the girl group performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2022. It also became the first K-pop group to perform at the GMA 2022 Summer Concert Series.

aespa To Hold 1st VR Concert

aespa is also gearing up to hold its first-ever virtual-reality (VR) concert at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival 2023.

AmazeVR, a VR concert production and distribution company, confirmed the upcoming event on Jan. 13. It said that the girl group's aespa VR Concert at Kwangya was chosen to feature at the Austin, Texas, event.

The SXSW website disclosed it would be a 20-minute concert set in the K-pop agency's virtual space, Kwangya.

SM's Chief Creative Officer Park Jun Young said, per The Korea Economic Daily, "SXSW will be an opportunity to show AmazeVR's technology and SM's scalability toward metaverse content. We plan to put up many more VR concerts in the future."
