NewJeans officially beat BTS on Spotify – South Korea Chart!
NewJeans continues to be buzz-worthy since the group’s debut on July 22. The girl group, formed by HYBE Corporation’s subsidiary ADOR, presented its five members — Minji, Hyein, Hannie, Haerin and Danielle — through the debut single, Attention.
The girl group scored people’s attention even more with its hit singles: HypeBoy, Cookie, Ditto and OMG. The former, on the other hand, recently set a record and surpassed what BTS previously recorded.

NewJeans’ HypeBoy Beats BTS’ Butter
NewJeans’ fans recently celebrated after HypeBoy reached 5.899 views on Spotify - South Korea.
On Twitter, they shared photos of the songs’ covers and highlighted that the girl group’s record surpassed the 5.895 million record set by the K-pop boy supergroup.
Still, Butter holds another record after making it to Spotify’s Billions Club in October. The song, which was released on May 21, 2021, accumulated more than 1 billion streams on the music streaming platform.

On the other hand, NewJeans also secured four spots on Spotify’s Top 50 South Korea list. Ditto tops the list, with OMG standing in second place. Meanwhile, HypeBoy and Attention are at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
BIGBANG’s Taeyang and BTS Jimin’s VIBE is in third place with 35,000 plays.
NewJeans Savors More Historic Feats
NewJeans made another remarkable feat this year as it joined 2NE1 and BIGBANG as the only K-pop groups in history to secure the Top 3 spots on the MelOn Weekly Chart and four songs in the Top 10.
Four of the monster rookie girl group’s songs are on No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 7. Coincidentally, BIGBANG and 2NE1’s songs also had the same places in the past.
In addition, NewJeans also became the fastest K-pop girl group to enter the official Singles Chart UK’s Official Charts with Ditto. In just less than six months after its debut, the song impressed everyone by debuting at No. 95 on the chart for the week of Jan. 13 to 19.
