Park So Dam Reveals Health Status After Cancer Battle

Parasite actress Park So Dam updated her fans about her health following her battle against cancer.

The actress’ agency, ArtistCompany, first confirmed her diagnosis in December 2021. It revealed that Park So Dam was diagnosed with the dreaded disease during a regular checkup. The National Health Service says, while it is the most common type of cancer, it is easier to be treated compared to other types.

It led her to take time some time off as she recuperated from the surgery. But she came back stronger to tell her story.

Park So Dam Shares Recovery Status After Cancer Diagnosis

Park So Dam’s newest film, Phantom, will arrive on big screens on Jan. 18. Ahead of its premiere, the actress took fans’ worries away by sharing a positive update about her health.

In an interview shared by Newsen, the actress said she has since recovered and doing well in life. She also expressed how grateful she is to meet people and greet them personally.

“Although I’ve gotten a lot better, my skin has been a mess due to hormone imbalances. While going to pilates five or six times a week, I’m rediscovering my body’s flow,” Park So Dam said. “While my stamina has not fully returned to what it used to be, if I think about this time last year, I can only think about how happy I am.”

She opened up about experiencing something she did not have to experience in the first place, saying it changed her perspective but made her stronger and healthier.

As part of her recovery, she gave herself time off during a solo trip in December.

What To Know About Park So Dam’s Film Phantom

Park So Dam will unleash the other side of her in the Lee Hae Young film, Phantom.

Set in 1933 during the Japanese colonization of Korea, the story explores the life of Park So Dam’s character, Yuriko. Despite her Korean race, she eventually becomes the secretary of the Government-General political affairs chief.

Suspects in the film stay in a hotel as potential phantom spies. They are part of the plans created by the anti-Japanese organizations in the Japanese Government-General of Korea.

It serves as her newest project with the director, whom she previously worked with in The Silenced. Even while working on her upcoming film, Park So Dam felt anxious because of her worsening health. She added that she was in a bad state and that she almost lost her voice during the recordings.

Fortunately, she braved her battle and won against cancer.
