Ado Makes Real-Life Appearance to Perform One Piece Red's New Genesis, Watch

Ado Real-Life

Despite becoming one of Japan’s biggest artists, Ado has rarely shown herself online for performances. Now though, fans can watch Ado in her real-life appearance on stage to perform One Piece Film: Red’s New Genesis.

This live performance from Ado was released just recently on her official YouTube channel, and it was shared to promote her first live concert DVD/Blu-ray which will be released in June. Though the concert itself took place back in August 2022.

Despite making a live appearance, Ado’s face continues to be a mystery to fans.

Japanese Artists and Anonymity

While there are some well-known artists who don’t show their faces (Daft Punk comes to mind), Japan has a lot more artists who prefer to keep themselves anonymous.

Ado is one of the most popular examples. While she became hugely popular in Japan in 2020 for her song Usseewa, Ado has never revealed her face whenever she performs or does live streams.

Interestingly, Ado’s videos all feature the same character. Though she has also performed as Uta to promote One Piece Film: Red as she sings all the movie’s songs.

Alongside Ado, there are also lots of other anonymous singers that are popular among anime fans.

These include the lead singer of ZUTOMAYO (the performers of Chainsaw Man’s second ending) as well as yama (who sings Spy x Family’s second ending).

One notable example of an artist who previously hid her appearance is Aimer, the singer of Demon Slayer and NieR: Automata Ver1.1a's openings.

While she didn’t show her face before, she has done so in her later live performances.

Some artists who prefer to be anonymous often wear something to cover their faces. For instance, yama does this with her signature mask.

But interestingly, Ado doesn’t have a mask on and instead relies on a cool stage effect.

Specifically, her concert stage is lit up with a bright LED screen, but it doesn’t have any light pointed toward her. You can check it out here:

This is no doubt a cool effect as you can still clearly see Ado’s silhouette on stage, though her face is very much hidden.

And no, it does not affect her singing as Ado sounds almost exactly like the recording in her live performance.

Ado’s first live concert DVD/Blu-ray will be released in Japan on June 21, 2023.
