Yoo Ju Eun, a rising Korean actress, died by suicide at the age of 27.
The list of Korean celebrities who took their own lives grew again after actress Yoo Ju Eun killed herself on August 29. Multiple Korean media outlets confirmed the news and shared the suicide note she left.
After the heartbreaking update came out, the issue of the growing suicide cases among Korean stars reemerged, and the public began talking about similar cases again.

In the past years, the industry lost several notable stars who committed suicide using different methods. Among the most common ways include hanging, poisoning, carbon monoxide poisoning, and bridge jumping, to name a few.
With Yoo Ju Eun’s death, fans also remembered the most recent deaths in the industry, including the passing of Kim Jong Hyun, Sulli, and Goo Hara.

Jonghyun, the main vocalist of the famous K-pop group, SHINee, was found unconscious in December 2017 after sending a suicide note to his sister. He was still able to rush to a hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Sulli was found dead by her manager in 2019 after the K-pop star suffered malicious comments online. Only a month later, KARA’s former member also faced the same fate and tragedy.
Korean Industry’s Suicide Rate Increases Because of Loneliness
Before Yoo Ju Eun’s death, Sulli’s co-member, Amber Liu, sat down for an interview with PEOPLE in 2020 and talked about the rise of suicides in the country, particularly among K-pop idols.
She revealed that being an idol is fun, but loneliness creeps in afterwards.
"We grew up learning that sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, but words do hurt," she said. "They physically can hurt."
Aside from the aforesaid cases, other personalities who ended up claiming their own lives include Surprise U’s Cha In Ha, Lee Hye-Ryeon (U;Nee), M.Street’s Lee Seo Hyun, Park Yong Ha, and Ahn So Jin.
