Hazbin Hotel Episode 7 starts with Charlie feeling upset and discouraged about Vaggie’s huge secret and finding an efficient way to save her friends, so she locks herself up in her room, where Alastor decides to speak with her.

As Charlie vented her frustrations, Alastor told her that he knew something she didn’t know, as if he'd already planned to make a deal with her.

True enough, Alastor, in exchange for one favor at a time of his choosing where Charlie would not harm anyone, gave vital information that could save the hotel.

Charlie got to keep her soul and even had a chance to turn things around by dealing with Alastor, much to Vaggie’s dismay.

Afterward, Alastor brings Charlie to Cannibal Town to meet with an ally of his, Rosie. She rules Cannibal Town, and she is also Alastor’s old friend.

There, upon seeing Alastor for the first time in a while, Rosie calls him an ace in the hole, much to Alastor’s surprise, who asks her in return, “I’m what now?”

Because of this, viewers took their reactions online, saying that Rosie’s joke about Alastor confirms something about his sexuality in the series.

Dictionary.com describes “ace in the hole” as an advantage or a resource kept back until the proper opportunity presents itself, much like a trump card used by shounen anime characters or other main protagonists who are on the losing side and are about to switch things around.

However, in Hazbin Hotel, the phrase “ace in the hole,” which was used by Rosie to describe Alastor, has an entirely different meaning.

It is actually a phrase to describe Alastor’s sexuality in that Alastor is “Aro Ace,” or aromantic asexual.

In other words, it is some sort of pun for Alastor’s sexuality, given how asexuals often call themselves "aces.”

Basically, what Rosie is saying is that she’s kidding about Charlie and Alastor’s relationship since she knows that Alastor is asexual.

It may be a subtle moment, but fans love the representation present in that moment.
