ABC Considering Live Disney Musicals

ABC could be working to develop its own live musicals.

According to new network chief Channing Dungey prior to ABC's upfront presentation (via Entertainment Weekly), the company has been talking about working on the live musicals.

She told reporters:

We've definitely been in those conversations and we have some things we're currently in development on. This is a space that's already become very crowded.
When we make our play in that space, we really want to make sure it's the right project for us to be doing and one that really speaks to the heart of who we are at ABC and as a part of the Disney family.

The announcement comes after NBC and Fox's recent successes with their respective live events The Wiz and Grease Live.

With ABC's collaboration with Disney, the possibilities are endless – and exciting! There are tons of classics and new projects that the company can work on. The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin sounds interesting and would certainly attract audiences from past generations, or how about Tangled, Zootopia, Finding Dory, or Frozen, now those would be amazing.
