A New Game of Thrones Prequel Game is Now Available for Apple Arcade Users

Despite having a disastrous final season that left no one happy, there are still Game of Thrones fans who don't regret their time with the acclaimed HBO series. Even though the ending is ass, a lot of people are probably still bingeing it on HBO Max so it makes sense that people are still making tie-in material based on the franchise. Still, most people were surprised when publisher Devolver Digital and Apple Arcade announced Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows.

This is a prequel game set 8,000 years before Jon Snow took over The Black and details some tales from The Night's Watch. If you were hoping for a hack-and-slash game or some kind of neat RPG, prepare to be disappointed since this is a narrative idle game that mostly focuses on a player's choice during the story. Also, idle games mean that days pass even when you don't play so it has that Animal Crossing appeal.

In the shadow of the Wall, your watch begins. Eight thousand years before Jon Snow took the Black, the Night's Watch was formed to secure the Wall and defend the border of Westeros against the perils of the North, and all that lies beyond. Into these untamed wilds, sworn brothers and their allies set out on rangings to face the dangers that would threaten the realm. But the Wall is a blade that cuts both ways.

Since this is a prequel, fans are probably happy over the fact that they won't have to relive any of the shitty moments from the last few seasons of Game of Thrones. That being said, an idle narrative game is far from original when it comes to titles that frequent Apple Arcade so we hope that this title has a little more to offer, aside from expanding the lore of this franchise.

Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows is available now on iOS via Apple Arcade.
