The bloodthirsty alien creatures that turn everyone silent in John Krasinski’s epic post-apocalyptic horror films A Quite Place and A Quiet Place Part II will soon return to bring terror and fear to New York City in the upcoming A Quiet Place: Day One.

Michael Sarnoski helmed the prequel, which takes place before the events of the first two movies and focuses on a woman named Sam, played by Lupita Nyong’o.

Alongside her cat, Frodo, the two will try to survive an alien invasion in New York City.

But with creatures that possess ultrasonic sound hearing, it remains to be seen how they can survive, especially since there’s a cat that is hard to keep silent.

Here are the five ways to beat these creatures called Death Angels based on the first two A Quiet Place movies.

High-Frequency Noises

The first A Quiet Place movie established what attracted the monsters’ attention: sound.

The Abbott family’s son, Beau, died after being attacked by one of the monsters when his toy rocket ship made beeping and blaring sounds.

However, what made them hunt their prey was also what could kill them. Sadly, the Abbotts learned this too late.

When the family patriarch Lee (Krasinski) tried to fix Regan’s (Millicent Simmonds) cochlear implants that helped her hear, all she heard was painful screeching noises.

As a monster was about to attack, the same painful screeching sounds scared the creature away.

The high-frequency sound not only made them crazy but also drove them away. If loud enough, the Death Angel could temporarily collapse from the pain.

Shoot Them in the Head

The Death Angels became very vulnerable with their inability to withstand particularly high-frequency sounds.

Despite having an outer body that worked as an exoskeleton against attacks, making them impossible to beat, the high-frequency noises forced the protective armor on its head to open forcefully and exposed its ears.

So, the moment Regan acknowledged this, she started to strengthen the frequency of her implants by placing them in front of a microphone, and her mother cocked her shotgun and killed the monster.

However, being shot or damaged in their body with their armor still intact might still make them survive. Hence, they had to be shot in the head to kill them instantly.

Drown Them in the Water

In A Quiet Place II, Regan and a new ally, Emmett (Cillian Murphy), travel to a radio broadcasting tower, hoping to broadcast her implants’ frequencies broadly.

The tower was located off the coast, on a small island. So, while procuring a boat, they saw one of the monsters try to swim after Emmett but failed and sank below the surface.

By the looks of it, the monster couldn’t float, probably due to the heaviness of its armor.

That said, drowning them in the water could potentially kill them.

The Sound of Running Water

Evelyn fights off a monster at the factory to protect her son and newborn by activating the fire sprinkler system, which uses the sound of running water to distract the enemy.

It was the same thing Lee did when he used the waterfall as soundproofing in the previous film.

So, aside from the monsters’ inability to survive in the water, the sound of them running can also be used as a perfect safeguard for humans attempting to venture out in the open.

The franchise has yet to reveal how the creatures will respond to rain and thunderstorms, which can also be an advantage for humans.

Humans can use water to defeat monsters in several ways. They can lure them into a dam and flood them, which may result in their deaths.

Teamwork

What can’t be accomplished with a little teamwork? If there’s any chance that humans can defeat the monster, it’s if the fractured communities start to work together.

As cheesy as it sounds, the first two A Quiet Place movies show people as real monsters, and the creatures serve as an allegory for humanity.

The first film shows an old man killing a woman in the woods, and the guy ends up screaming despite Lee and Marcus’ plead to keep silent. As this naturally gets the attention of the monsters, the old man dies.

In the sequel, a group of depraved men use a young girl to lure other helpless humans. Henri (Djimon Hounsou) also reveals that only two boats out of 12 have survived as people fight ahead of the line to get to the island.

“The people that are left are not the kind of people worth saving,” Emmett says.

However, Emmett learns that there are still people who have kept their humanity, and these people may work together to fight off the monsters.

These are just some ways humans can beat the creatures in A Quiet Place.

There may still be more ways the prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, may reveal how to defeat the monsters.

A Quiet Place: Day One will hit the theaters on June 28.
