Yoda’s Backwards Talking Would Get Frank Oz “Bored” Unless There Was A Reason Behind It

Star Wars fans might love the quirky way that Yoda speaks, but Yoda puppeteer and voice actor Frank Oz says that he'd get bored of the Jedi Master's backward talking if there wasn't any real reason behind it.

Oz went on an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit and during his discussion with Star Wars fans, the English-born puppeteer and filmmaker revealed that there's a serious reason behind the way Yoda speaks.

"Hello LA, I would get bored of what you called his backward talking if there was not a real, serious reason behind it," Oz responded after being asked about the different frequencies of Yoda's speech pattern. "And there is a real, serious reason for his talking like that. But there are a lot of questions waiting."

The voice actor and puppeteer also went on to explain his return to the franchise in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy installment.

"It was a joy and a challenge to come back to perform Yoda," Oz detailed. "As for Mark, I'll say it over and over if it wasn't for Mark, and his belief in the character, Yoda would not be the Yoda we know. I think Mark did a fantastic job in The Last Jedi. As for the pager-turner line, that was Rian, the director, and writer. All the dialogue came from him. He is annoyingly talented."

It definitely was a pleasant surprise seeing Yoda pop up in The Last Jedi, though some fans found the Jedi Master's appearance in the film a bit strange. We wonder whether Lucasfilm has any intention of revealing the real reason behind Yoda's way of speaking in a future Star Wars movie (probably the rumored Yoda spinoff).

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently screeeing in cinemas.
