World War Z Sequel Pushed Back So Brad Pitt Can Star in the Next Tarantino Movie

News has just dropped that Brad Pitt will be joining Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino's Charles Manson movie, and it looks like production for the World War Z sequel has been pushed back so he could work on the project.

According to Variety's Justin Kroll, WWZ2 has pushed its shooting schedule to this fall so Pitt could find time to work on Tarantino's 9th movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. DiCaprio is said to be playing a has-been star named Rick Dalton while Pitt will be playing his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth.

Tarantino told Variety about the two characters:

"Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate."

Originally set to come out in 2017, it looks like World War Z2 is now looking at a 2020 release date. We don't know what the movie will actually be about this time, but since the first film didn't cover Max Brooks' book faithfully, the sequel if a fresh slate to try again.

Since the book is mostly a fictional oral history about different people's experiences during the zombie outbreak, I think a faithful adaptation of the film would be a mock documentary/biopic, with people supposedly recounting their experiences while dramatization happens in the background. If you ask me, they could just make this thing a series and play it out like HBO's Band of Brothers. I think that would do justice for the book.

We still don't have a release date for World War Z, but with the movie planning to shoot later this fall, we could be looking at an early 2020 release.
