The Walking Dead's Negan Talks Key Singing Scene

The highlight of yesterday's episode of The Walking Dead should have been Negan and Carl's big moment where the latter sang a song for the bully.

And while we may have our own reserves as far as how the episode ran, it seems that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan found it to be one of his favorites in the season so far.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Morgan revealed just how impressed he was with his co-actor, Chandler Riggs, in that scene. He revealed that Riggs was even the most excited person for that scene.

"It was a big moment for Carl, this whole episode, and Chandler was very excited. I was so impressed with him as a young actor... I remember sitting across room him doing that scene and he's unwrapping his head and, man, he was right there, and I was very, very impressed with him."

Perhaps the reason for Negan's fascination with Carl lies in the fact that he may see Carl as his kid more than anything.

And because of that, Negan does respect Carl, even when we don't feel as much onscreen. Morgan also traces back to Negan's background as a PE teacher pre-apocalypse, and how it may be the reason why he seems very attached to Carl.

Morgan did answer one question I had in mind when watching the latest episode: was his apology to making Carl take off the bandage for real?

It was. I guess there's still some hope for Negan in the end. Unless things play out like they do in the comics.
