People are currently enjoying Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max but is there any chance that the film will actually get a theatrical release? Zack Snyder has just shared plans for screening the Snyder Cut in IMAX.
Snyder was recently a guest on the ReelBlend podcast where he discussed his future plans for Justice League. Interestingly, it includes the intention to bring the color version and the black-and-white version Justice is Gray to IMAX. In fact, some lucky fans actually got to enjoy the film in theaters through charity screenings.
"They have given me a handful of charity screenings in IMAX," Snyder stated. "So as we go forward, I'm going to do a handful of charity screenings -- a couple in color, a couple in black and white -- and that's my plan."
Snyder continued that he is planning to come up with "Snyder Con 2" with the Nerd Queens.
"The idea there would be to do an IMAX weekend where we would do Man of Steel, [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] and Justice League as sort of a three-day event and try and get as many of the people who made the movie and the cast and whoever will help us out as a huge charity event," Snyder said.
That sounds like a cool plan considering that not everyone would be lucky enough to watch the Snyder Cut on HBO Max. It's exactly what Snyder wants to do with the movie since he insisted on shooting the film on 35mm with a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. With that in mind, a theatrical release on IMAX is just meant to be.
For now, it is unclear when the Snyder Cut will be made available on IMAX. After all, Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed any plans to give the movie a theatrical release. Nevertheless, we're expecting an update from Snyder himself soon.
Zack Snyder's Justice League is still available for streaming on HBO Max and on various streaming services around the world.
