Star Wars: The Mandalorian Chapter 5 Raises the Stakes with Fennec Shand

The fifth episode of The Mandalorian is finally here and the struggle for survival continues for Mando and Baby Yoda. Interestingly, Chapter 5: The Gunslinger raised the stakes by bringing us back to a familiar place and introducing the dangerous Fennec Shand.

SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

The episode opens with an epic space dogfight between Mando and another bounty hunter. Although Mando wins, the Razor Crest is severely damaged and he needs to get it fixed. Interestingly, the closest planet he could land on is one that Star Wars fans are already familiar with. So Chapter 5 brings us back to the place where it all started: Mos Eisley.

It's an awesome treat since we get to revisit Tatooine but Mando doesn't waste time seeing the sights. He needs to get the ship fixed and quickly finds Peli Motto, who agrees to do the necessary repairs as long as Mando pays her. Since he doesn't have any way to pay her, he needs to find a job and immediately meets Toro Calican in that famous cantina.

Toro, who wants to be a bounty hunter, convinces Mando to go after Fennec Shand, a famous mercenary with a huge bounty on her head. Interestingly, the tables are turned when they capture Fennec and she reveals that the bounty on Mando is even greater. She then arranges a deal where they could both take Mando in.

Unfortunately, Toro is way too greedy as he decides he can take on Mando on his own. He kills Fennec (hold up, we gotta talk about this in a while) and kidnaps Baby Yoda, who has been left with Peli. However, Mando manages to kill him, takes all his money and pays Peli with it before leaving Tatooine.

But wait, what about Fennec? It's unclear if she is truly dead because a mysterious jingling figure approaches her body at the end of the episode. We're hoping that this means we'll see more of her in future episodes.
