Star Wars: The Mandalorian Switches Dates for New Special Tie-In with The Rise of Skywalker

It looks like Star Wars fans are going to get an extra treat when they head down to cinemas to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in the next few weeks.

Disney just recently revealed that the penultimate episode for the first season of Jon Favreau's hit live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian is getting an "exclusive sneak peek" during screenings for The Rise of Skywalker, giving fans more incentive to see the film early (as if they need any other incentive other than the fact that there's a new Star Wars film though).

The Mickey Mouse House has yet to reveal the title of the second-to-the-last episode. However, we do know that "The Sin" episode director Deborah Chow is going to return to direct the seventh episode from a script written by series creator Jon Favreau himself.

A description of the seventh episode of The Mandalorian tells fans that "an old rival extends an invitation for The Mandalorian to make peace," making us wonder whether this old rival would come from the bounty hunting community or whether it would be Werner Herzog's The Client.

The episode has been moved up from The Mandalorian's usual Friday release to an early drop on Wednesday, December 18. That's a couple of days ahead of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's release.

Meanwhile, the show's season finale which is set to drop on December 27 will have Pedro Pascal's The Mandalorian come "face-to-face with an unexpected enemy."

Could it be someone from The Rise of Skywalker? Or perhaps from the original trilogy? Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+. New episodes are released every Friday.
