Shazam 2 Will Not Premiere Until 2023

In case you missed it, Warner Bros. is once again rescheduling several major films including the DC Extended Universe flicks. Unfortunately, this means Shazam: Fury of the Gods will not hit theaters until 2023.

It has previously announced that Wonder Woman 1984 will be moved back to December, forcing Warner Bros. to delay the premiere of Denis Villeneuve's epic adaptation of Dune. Interestingly, Dune will now be taking The Batman's release date which means that the Robert Pattinson film is getting a later premiere. All this has led to a domino effect on the studio's lineup and resulting in Shazam 2 being pushed back seven months from its original date.

Shazam 2 was already scheduled for release on November 4, 2022, but it is now expected to hit theaters in June 2023. While fans were unhappy about having to wait three years for Fury of the Gods, director David F. Sandberg thought it was time to give the sequel a new title.

Sandberg's post might be hilarious but it's also quite accurate. At this point, there are no official movies that are scheduled for 2023. However, we are still hoping that the filmmaker will be able to begin production on Fury of the Gods as soon as possible since the young cast isn't getting any younger. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is now scheduled for release on June 2, 2023.
