Babylon 5 Creator Shares Details About Upcoming CW Reboot

In case you missed it, Babylon 5 is getting a reboot that will air on The CW. But what can we expect in the new series? Creator J. Michael Straczynski has decided to answer all fan questions and reveal some details about the show's awesome return.

Straczynski took to his official Twitter account to address just about everything that fans have been wondering about when the news was dropped. For instance, he confirmed that he is very much involved in the new Babylon 5 show and is already working on the pilot.

The post also confirms that The CW is giving Straczynski a lot of freedom with the project. In addition to that, he quotes the Greek philosopher Heraclitus to explain why they are working on a reboot rather than a sequel: "You cannot step in the same river twice, for the river has changed, and you have changed."

"So we will not be retelling the same story in the same way because of what Heraclitus said about the river. There would be no fun and no surprises. Better to go the way of Westworld or Battlestar Galactica where you take the original elements that are evergreens and put them in a blender with a ton of new, challenging ideas, to create something fresh yet familiar," Straczynski wrote.

"To those asking why not just do a continuation, for a network series like this, it can't be done because over half our cast are still stubbornly on the other side of the Rim," he added.

It's great to know that Straczynski is treating the Babylon 5 reboot as a fresh opportunity to explore his own universe. It's a welcome idea and there is little doubt that fans are already looking forward to the new series.

The Babylon 5 reboot is now in active development at The CW. The new show has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
