Riot's highly-anticipated tactical shooter Valorant is set to launch on June 2, 2020. The PC game, which has been in closed beta since April, will be free "across the majority of regions worldwide", according to the developer. As part of the release, the beta will end on May 28.
Valorant is a 5v5 team-based shooter that combines elements of Counter-Strike and Overwatch, and it's the first major release from Riot since League of Legends. Since the beta started, the game has dominated Twitch thanks to the way players can get access to closed beta by watching streamers play.
According to Riot, the progress of players who managed to get into the beta will be reset and they "will start fresh, progressing from the same starting line as they compete with players around the world." Riot also siad that they are planning to add new characters, maps, and modes "shortly after launch", and the company will be deploying new servers in Atlanta, Dallas, London, Madrid, and Warsaw to keep up with the surge of new players.
