Shroud Talks About Being Pro in Valorant: “I Wanna Compete but I Can’t Compete”

Shroud (Michael Grzesiek) is one of the most popular live game streamers, but he's also famous for being a former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro known for his extraordinary ability to master any game he touches.

On April Fools Day, Shroud said that he is going pro in Valorant, the upcoming tactical shooter PC game from developer Riot Games (currently in Closed Beta). Although it shocked the first-person-shooter community, it was clear that he was joking, but it turns out that there's more truth to what he said.

Shroud recently released a YouTube video published on his second channel Shroudy Rowdy, in which he explained that he wants to compete professionally as with aValorant team, and although he can technically do it while streaming full time, he explains that he won't have time for himself if he decides to do both.

In the video, he explains that even though he experienced being a full-time CSGO pro for Cloud 9 and a streamer, but had no time for himself, he doesn't want to do that again since is already living the dream of playing games to earn money as a content creator/streamer. However, his competitive spirit wants to play Valorant, and he explains that the new FPS game is not something you can just play casually like Apex Legends, so he has to restrain himself from playing competitively. He noted that even the unrated matches in Valorant are competitive. "I just love what I do now, and I just prefer it so much more, but it sucks because Valorant is a great game," Shroud said.

Shroud is right: Valorant is amazing. It's one of the two major games I've been playing recently. You can watch my clip of playing as Omen here:

Valorant is expected to be released this summer.
